We left Idaho the first week of October to head to California. We stopped to see my sister Katy, and then at Kolob Canyon, and Zion! It was cold, raining, and beautiful. Abigail didn't seem to mind that we hiked around in the cold. Thankfully Zion had a bus you could ride around to see things. We hopped on and off for short periods of time to take pictures.
These first four are Kolob Canyon...
The rest of these are Zion!!
Being in Zion helped me remember that man is nothing. Most of the rock formations are named something gospel related....including the name of the parks ZION and KOLOB! (kind of a duh moment, but I didn't know the whole park had names relating to gospel truths).
Once we arrived in California, we stayed with mom for a few days, then headed to Kern Valley to work on some real estate properties. Abbi and I hung out at Kern River and Lake Isabella most of the time, while Eli and my brother Gary worked.
These were the local hot springs, Abigail loves water!
We also got to spend some time in Camarillo, and went to the beach with Abigail! She was all about the water and the sand....she LOVED it! (until she seemed to get too cold)
Abbi loves the swings.....loves em!
We also went to the Giant Redwood forest. If you think these trees are big in the picture, then you're right. But in real life they are WAY BIGGER! It was fascinating to see and think that these trees have been around for hundreds of year. Think of what they have seen and heard in their lifetime. Alot has happened since they were born!
This is the root system of a Redwood. They spread wide instead of deep. There was a tree that had fallen over and practically shattered to pieces. Could you imagine being there when a huge Redwood hits the ground. This tree fell just a few weeks ago, and is right in the pathway so the whole park closed for a while to try to get it cleaned up and workable again. After a few weeks it opened but, there is still a huge tree in the pathway that you have to climb on to get around....it was majorly cool!!!
